Measurements of Electrical Parameters:

How to measure Ac & Dc current with Fluke 179 True RMS Digital multimeter?

Steps to measure current:

The steps for the current measurement are as follows:

  1. Point the dial to mA Hz or A Hz.
  2. Inside the com jack insert black lead.
  3. Inside the 400 mA jack insert Red lead for measuring current up to 600 mA and into 10 A for measurement up to 10 A.
  4. Connect firstly black lead to the circuit and after that Red lead.
  5. Use this mode for increased resolution on small currents.
  6. When connected to 400 mA, measures two ranges up to 600 mA and vice versa.
  7. Set the basic accuracy up to 1.5% + 3 digits.
  8. Set the maximum resolution of 0.1 mA for 400 mA and 1 mA for 10 A
  9. Pressthis button for current measurements and again by pressing this frequency also measured.
  10. Measure frequency always less than 1 KHz otherwise bar graph is unspecified.
  11. Note the measurement display on the screen. When reading is noted down removes firstly red lead from the circuit and after removing black lead.

How to calculate Frequency of Ac & Dc voltage with Fluke 179 True RMS Digital multimeter?

Steps for measuring frequency of Ac & Dc voltages :

The Steps for the frequency measurement of AC & DC volatge are as follows:

  1. Point the dial to Hz Ṽ for alternating voltage and to Hz V for Direct voltage.
  2. Inside the com jack insert black lead.
  3. Inside the VΩ jack insert Red lead.
  4. Connect firstly black lead to the circuit and after that Red lead.
  5. Select the measure range up to 1000 V.
  6. Set the basic accuracy up to 0.09% + 2 digits.
  7. Set the maximum resolution of 0.1 mV for AC voltage and 1 mV for DC voltage.
  8. Measure alternating voltage and direct voltage .On the left side of the display it indicates either AC or DC voltage.
  9. Pressthis button for frequency measurement.
  10. Measured frequency will be always less than 1 KHz otherwise bar graph is unspecified.
  11. Note the measurement display on the screen. When reading is noted down removes firstly red lead from the circuit and after removing black lead.

How to measure Resistance with Fluke 179 True RMS Digital multimeter?

Steps for measuring Resistance:

The steps for the resistance measurement are as follows:

  1. Point the dial to Ω.
  2. Inside the com jack insert black lead.
  3. Inside the VΩ jack insert Red lead.
  4. Connect firstly black lead to the circuit and after that Red lead.
  5. Set the basic accuracy up to 0.9% + 1 digit.
  6. Set the maximum resolution of 0.1 Ω.
  7. Note the measurement display on the screen. When reading is noted down removes firstly red lead from the circuit and after removing black lead.
